The Loft and The Courageous Heart School of Yoga are pleased to announce our 200-hour Trauma-Informed Yoga Teachers Training!
You may have been thinking about becoming a yoga teacher, wanting to deepen your practice, or would like to connect with yourself a little deeper. If so, our Trauma-Informed Teacher Training is for you!
What can you expect?
To lean deeper into you and deeper into your practice. You can expect to spend 200 hours stepping into your yoga practice. During this time, our teachers will introduce you to yoga and trauma-informed practices and philosophy to assist you in creating a safe container for your future students. You will explore asana practices (yoga poses), Ayurveda, the subtle body, meditation, how trauma presents in the body and mind, how to ethically hold space and respond to students as they are uncovering, unfolding, and redefining setting the stage for courageous heart lead living.
This program has been approved by the Canadian Yoga Alliance. Upon completion, you will be eligible to apply for your 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Registration. You will be qualified to work anywhere in the world. You can teach yoga to the public and work alongside Mental Health Professionals as they support people through their healing journey.
Who is this training for?
This training is for anyone, regardless of whether they want to teach, dig deeper into themselves, or hold space for the healing of trauma. The only condition is they decide to show up and lean into what our teachers offer!
Why trauma-informed yoga teachers training? It seems heavy!
Your primary facility, Chris Johnson, is an experienced Yoga Teacher and Social Worker. You will learn more about her in a minute. As soon as she started teaching yoga, she noted that trauma presented itself consistently in students' practices. Unfortunately, most yoga teacher trainings do not support teachers in learning how to recognize, respond, contain, and refer when someone is triggered on the mat. This training will assist teachers in feeling prepared for what may present itself. Yes, you can hold this space!
Who is the primary faculty?
Christina (Chris ) Johnson, B.S.W., R.S.W, Rehab Prac. II, E-500 RYT, Ayurvedic Wellness Coach, is the proud mom of two exceptional children and one dog. Chris has dedicated her life to helping people and communities heal. This has been done through holding space for one-to-one growth and broad community and organizational change initiatives. Her career was first spent working with people who were differently abled, then moving into the field of Social Work specializing in helping people heal through clinical interventions, community development, trauma-informed practices, innovative program design that just makes sense, and sexual trauma. Chris has worked specifically in trauma as a Social Worker for over 15 years. She started practicing yoga 20 years ago and instantly fell in love. Chris is a self-identified recovering perfectionist and, therefore, a high performer. Yoga allowed Chris to slow down, quiet the mind, dig into where the overachieving originated, and turn within, setting the stage for balance in a hectic life. When Chris returned to school to complete her Social Work degree, she studied mindfulness from a clinical perspective. Knowing the research and from her own healing experience on her mat, Chris intended to become a yoga teacher to hold this space for others. Chris decided to further her training by focusing on the feminine form of Ayurveda, Body Yantra (a form of body-based trauma treatment) and Tantra through Shakti School, becoming an Ayurvedic Wellness Coach. Chris offers what she has experienced through her many teachings, the space for healing, self-nurturing, and self-love through a gentle exploration of oneself. She invites her students to create balance through alignment, embracing their personal strength, releasing what no longer serves them, curating self-love, and opening the door for authentic connection.
This is Chris. However, this space will be held by other Yoginis and Yogis, creating space for different knowledge holders to broaden the students' learning! Watch our feed for information about the people guiding you through this journey.
